Haeggquist & Eck partner Amber Eck has been named among the “Best of the Bar” for 2016 by the San Diego Business Journal.
Utilizing a peer nomination and review process, “Best of the Bar” honors San Diego lawyers who have made a significant impact on their profession and community. Amber was selected for inclusion in the list after votes of more than 1,200 attorneys from throughout San Diego County were considered to determine the region’s best advocates in a wide range of practice areas.
Amber Eck chairs Haeggquist & Eck’s Securities Litigation practice group, handling securities and shareholder derivative litigation, as well as representing aggrieved employees in actions against their employers. She is a tireless advocate for consumers, employees and shareholders and has litigated all aspects of complex individual and class actions for the past twenty years.
Over the years, Amber has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of shareholders, consumers and employees who have been wronged by real estate investment scams, securities fraud, and unlawful employment practices. She recently serve co-lead counsel in two class actions against Donald Trump and Trump University, which settled for $25 million in November 2016.
Amber is a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts of America, and has served as a Girl Scout troop leader for the past six years. She has also served as the GATE District Advisory Council Representative for Loma Portal Elementary School, volunteer for Genesis Diez (which provides service to orphans and indigenous poor children in Baja, Mexico), and as a Deacon for Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church. She is also active in Christian Youth Theater and has served on the public relations and historian committees for the past two years.
Amber has also lectured to and mentored local law school students and attorneys and has served as a panelist on Lawyers Club of San Diego panels regarding Small Law Firms and Sole Practitioners on Time Management for Attorneys. She has served as a Barrister in the William B. Enright American Inn of Court and in the Louis M. Welsh American Inn of Court. She is a member of the Lawyers Club, San Diego County Bar Association and Federal Bar Association, and formerly served on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Barristers Club.
