Okay, we get it – to outsiders, law firms can seem a little (dare we say) boring. But when the team of HAE professionals aren’t in the office, we’re actually a lot of fun – and we want to tell you about it. That’s why we’re releasing a weekly series of “Getting To Know HAE” blogs featuring our firm’s team members.
We start this week with Alreen Haeggquist, founder and managing partner of the firm. Alreen lives in the Point Loma neighborhood with her husband and five-year-old daughter and is one of ten children. (She also has 21 nieces and nephews and 5 great-nephews!)
Why San Diego?
I moved here for college at UCSD in 1995 and fell in love with the city (and my husband)!
Favorite “locals-only” San Diego spot or activity?
Hiking Sunset Cliffs.
Perfect San Diego day?
Waking up and going out to breakfast followed by an easy hike at Sunset Cliffs or Torrey Pines State Reserve or a bike ride from Point Loma to downtown along the harbor, topped off by dinner out and a movie at home.
I don’t leave home without: My phone.
What inspired you to pursue a career in law?
I’ve always wanted to be able to stand up and fight for the powerless.
What has been your most exciting moment as a lawyer?
Becoming nationally recognized for our work in the Trump University matter.
Favorite leisure activity?
Cooking; hiking; time with my husband.
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I wasn’t born in this country and English was my second language.
I wanted to create an environment I wanted to work in, where I wanted to come each day. I think we’ve succeeded!
